How to reach Grenoble and ESRF?

Note that the Tram line "B" which goes through downtown Grenoble, including the bus and railway station, has been extended up to close to the ESRF entrance, and will function in September 2014, allowing easy access (even at night) from downtown Grenoble to the ESRF.

How to reach Villard-de-Lans from Grenoble?

The XTOP conference will organize transportation by bus from Grenoble to Villard de Lans on Monday afternoon:

  • One bus will depart from the ESRF/ILL site entrance at 14:00, directly to Villard de Lans
  • Another bus will depart from the ESRF/ILL also at 14:00, will make a stop at the Grenoble railway/bus station, and will depart from the station around 14:30
  • The last bus will depart from the Grenoble bus/railway station at 15:00
  • NB: at the bus/railway station, the XTOP buses will be in the street in front of the railway (SNCF) station, near the "Hotel terminus".

On Friday afternoon bus transportation will also be provided from Villard-de-Lans to the railway/bus station, there will be several departures from 13:45 to 14:30. (arrival in Grenoble one hour later). We will poll you for your required departure times at the conference, and make grouped arrangement if necessary.

The "Transisère Bus Line 5100" can be used for your convenience between Grenoble (Bus Station) and Villard-de-Lans (last stop):

 Invitation Letter for VISA

If you require a VISA to come to France for the conference, we will send you an invitation letter after you have sent us an email including the following information:

  • Family name, first name, birth date, passport number: all information should be exactly as stated on your passport
  • Your employer or institute name
  • The postal address the invitation letter should be sent to.
